Sadness as Donegal groom-to-be killed in two truck crash on Monday morning

FAMILY and friends are comforting each other over the tragic death of Donegal truck driver Declan Holian.

He passed away following a collision between his truck and another truck on Monday morning in Co Monagham.

His remains will repose at the home of his parents Isaac & Philomena Holian, Barack, Ramelton from 8 pm this evening (Tuesday).

Requiem Mass will be held this Thursday morning, January 14, at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church, Ramelton.

Burial will take place afterwards in New Leck Cemetery, Letterkenny.

The 30-year-old was due to marry fiancee Lorraine McGarvey in March this year.

Mr Holian – know affectionately to friends and truckers as ‘Decky’ – leaves behind a heartbroken family, fiancee and his 11-year-old son Dylan whom he shared so many wonderful father and son moments.

As well being very popular among family and friends, ‘Decky’ was also well regarded in the tight knit trucking community.

Irish Trucking News post a message on Facebook saying: “‘Decky’ did the job he loved everyday and anyone who knew him would say ‘Decky’ was always beaming and took so much pride in his truck.

“Little did we know that a couple of months after this photo was taken (above) that poor Declan would be taken from us.

“So it is with a tear in my eye I say RIP Decky Holian.

“You’ll be sorely missed and will be a great loss in the trucking community! Keep er lit on the Highway in the Sky bud.”

RIP Decky
