DERRY City Council have released the programme of works for the Brandywell Stadium redevelopment.
The programme shows that Derry City will have a new stadium in time for the 2017 season.
But the club will be without the Brandywell for the last three months of the 2016 season.
And there would be no greyhound track for six months from July to December 2016.
Possible alternative arrangements and venues are being looked at by the club and FAI and we will announce any developments on this as soon as we have them.

Timeline
– Lay 100% of new greyhound track……… July 2016 – Dec 2016
– Lay 3G pitch…………………………………….. Aug 2016 – Dec 2016
– Construct New Stand………………………… Sept 2016 – Mar 2017
Overall Contract Period – July 2016 – Mar 2017 = 9.5 months
Pros
– Contractor can prepare a much shorter programme as all work fronts can be opened up at once since not constrained by accommodating dog racing or football whilst trying to build a new track, pitch and stand respectively
– Expected cost savings as contractor does not have to establish temporary access routes etc to facilitate greyhound racing or football games. Demolition works can be completed in a single operation rather than piecemeal approach and no need to double handle excavated material as area requiring fill is available from outset of excavation works
– Greyhound track completed in one visit will simplify and accelerate all aspects of its construction.
– 3G pitch will be complete (and fully certified by the FAI) to ensure available for start of 2017 football season.
– Changing rooms and associated facilities in new stand will be complete for players use in 2017 season.
Cons
– DCFC unable to play home games for possibly last 3 months of 2016 season.
– Greyhound racing out of action for possible 6 months.
– Showgrounds pitch out of action until new greyhound track is built.
