guildhallMEMBERS of the public are invited to attend an event in the Guildhall on 26 January, Derry, to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

Organised by Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Community Relations Section, this reflective event will give attendees the opportunity to consider those affected by the holocaust and subsequent genocides.

The theme for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day is ‘Don’t Stand By’ so we hope to bring an inspirational element to the event; encouraging people to challenge racism, sectarianism, homophobia and all other forms of prejudice they may encounter.

Encouraging the public to attend, the Mayor Cllr Elisha McCallion said it was important that the Holocaust is remembered and that we can learn from it as part of the work we are doing to improve community relations across our communities.

The event starts at 10.30 am on the 26, the day prior to the official Holocaust Day on 27th and will continue through to lunchtime and will include lunch.

It will be held in the Whittaker Suite, Guildhall, Derry~Londonderry and booking in advance is required.

Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Bookings can be made by phone, email or post – [email protected] Tel 028 71253253.
