A CO Derry bus firm has appealed for information after thugs torched one of its wheelchair buses used to ferry around adults with learning difficulties.

Limavady-based Sandy Arthur Coach Hire Ltd says the vandals first tried to steal the bus at its Roe House/Aghanloo premises over the weekend.

When that failed, the thugs then set the vehicle on fire, robbing the company of a much needed vehicle for its transport services to the community.

In a statement, the company said: “Merry Christmas to the person or persons involved in the arson of one of our wheelchair buses, which was being used daily to transport adults with learning difficulties as well as adults & children in wheelchairs to school and work…

“We hope your proud of yourselves !!!

“Just because you didn’t manage to steal it like you had planned, instead of leaving it alone…you decided it was a better option to burn it.

“If anyone has any information that may help with the Police Investigation into this thoughtless crime please contact the Police on 101.”
