POLICE are warning motorists not to drive around Derry in uninsured cars as they likely to be detected and their vehicles seized.
The PSNI say research indicates that uninsured motorists are more likely to be involved in collisions and drive up the cost of car insurance bills.
This week Tactical Support Group (TSG) officers were on road safety duties in the city centre.
A spokesperson said: “A number of checks were performed and a motorist was detected without insurance or a driving licence and also with possession of a class B substance.
“A report will now be sent to the PPS.
“The vehicle was seized and recovery costs will have to be paid and proof of new insurance shown before it will be released again.”
