HAWK-EYED neighbours saved the day over a flat fire in Co Derry.
The Fire and Rescue Service said it despatched two appliances from Limavady station after receiving a 999 call.
They were responding to an incident in Drumachose Park in the town where a fire in the hallway of a first floor flat was reported.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hosereel jet and deployed a covering jet to deal with the fire.
A Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “A thermal imaging camera was also used to ensure the fire was extinguished and there were no other hot-spots.
“Smoke alarms had actuated in the property.
“However, neighbours had already called NIFRS.
