DERRY POLICE CONDEMN PARAMILITARY ‘PUNISHMENT’ ATTACK

maskedmenPOLICE in Derry have condemned a paramilitary style attack in Derry earlier today.

Police are appealing for information following the assault in the Galliagh area.

Superintendent Mark McEwan said: “Shortly before 4am today, Thursday November 12, police received a report that a man aged 24 had been assaulted by four others at Altcar Park. It is alleged that one of the men had a handgun. They left the scene in a small silver car.”

The victim did not require hospital treatment.

Police enquiries are continuing, and officers at Strand Road are appealing for assistance in identifying the culprits. Information can be given on the 101 non-emergency number or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
