DUE to popular demand, Derry City and Strabane District Council has organised two additional seminars on tracing family history to take place later this month.

Locally based Genealogist, Brian Mitchell will be hosting the presentations at the Tower Museum at 2pm on Monday, 16 and Monday, 30 November.

The theme of the seminars will be tracing World War One ancestry specifically and Brian will demonstrate with the case study of George Mitchell.

There will also be plenty of opportunity after each presentation to raise any specific queries people may have about researching their own family tree.

The event is open to everyone and admission is free, Derry Genealogist, Brian Mitchell is a Member of Accredited Genealogists Ireland and the author of a number of Irish genealogy reference books such as A New Genealogical Atlas of Ireland and A Guide to Irish Parish Registers.

Brian has been involved in local, family and emigration research in North West Ireland since 1982 and as Genealogist with Derry City and Strabane District Council he offers, by email, a family history advisory service.

Be it a query about place names, surname origins, sources to search or record offices to visit researchers are encouraged, at no charge, to forward their queries to Brian at genealogy@derrystrabane,com
