MAYOR WELCOMES URBANISM AWARDS SUCCESS

THE Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Cllr Elisha McCallion has welcomed news that the Peace Bridge and Ebrington Square have won the Academy of Urbanism’s Great Place Award, at the 2015 Urbanism Awards ceremony in London over the weekend.

Welcoming the news, the Mayor said it was a very deserving accolade which reflecting the positive impact the Peace Bridge and Ebrington Square have had on the lives of people in the city and district.

“The Peace Bridge and Ebrington Square are significant regeneration investment projects that have had a huge impact on the city.

“These two projects have both contributed to our local economy and tourism offering, as well as our overall health and well being.

“They symbolise the city’s positivity and aspirations for the future.

“I am delighted that the city has once again been acknowledged in these prestigious awards and would like to extend my congratulations to everyone involved,” she said.
