DERRY CITY’S CIARAN O’CONNOR WINS FIFA 16 VOTE!

Ciaran O'ConnorCIARAN O’Connor has won a public vote to feature on the front cover of FIFA 16 alongside Lionel Messi and Dundalk’s Andy Boyle after topping a poll of over 80,000 votes amongst League of Ireland fans, hosted on Extratime.ie.

The SSE Airtricity League FIFA 16 sleeve can be downloaded at easports.com/fifa from tomorrow, September 24th on all formats including Xbox One® and PlayStation 4® packs.

Once you’ve printed out your preferred sleeve, simply replace the existing cover in the FIFA 16 pack and start playing with your very own League of Ireland cover stars!

Ciaran told his club’s website Derrycityfc.net: “It all came so quickly! I didn’t think I’d manage to get on it, but as a young lad you dream of these things being on the cover of FIFA with Messi!

“It’s great to be acknowledged though. I buy FIFA every year anyway and it’s going to be a bit different owning it this year!”

As a player on loan from Dundalk, it seemed strange to some that Ciaran was picked, however the whole process was a public vote and Ciaran reckons he might know where he got his votes from.

“I think it was a combination of Derry City fans and people back home in Dundalk that I know that all put the votes in, so I think a bit of both helped me out there.

“There was a great social media campaign as well from Derry City, I think Andrew was giving it loads to get the fans behind me and it’s great to see that they did! They’re a great bunch of fans up here!”

“I’ll not get carried away though, we have five big games coming up and that’s the main focus now, is keeping Derry City in the Premier Division, that’s why I came here.

“I have two goals in five games here and it’s been a bit stop start with being cup tied and missing nearly every second game, but we’re out of the cup now and I’d be happy with another three goals in the remaining five matches to end up with five goals out of ten games.”
