EAST Derry SDLP MLA John Dallat has welcomed an assurance from the Justice Minister that the inclusion of cautions, informed warnings and other non-court disposals will be reviewed as part of the information disclosed in AccessNI enhanced checks.

He said: “In my oral question to the Justice Minister I told him that the people who received warnings over very minor infringements of the law in the past are finding themselves unable to get jobs or in a position where they could lose their job.

“While priority must always be placed on the protection of vulnerable people in our society, common sense must prevail to ensure that people lives and future opportunities are not ruined over possibly trivial indiscretions.

“I appreciate the balancing act involved in this particular issue and I am glad that the Minister has given me his assurance that the process will kept under review.”
