MAN HUNTED AFTER BRUTAL ASSAULT AT CLUB MTV GIG

MTV3POLICE are on the trail of a male suspect over an assault club MTV concert in Derry at the weekend during which a man suffered serious facial injuries.

A PSNI spokesperson said police received a report on Monday afternoon that a man in his 40s had been assaulted at the gig attended by over 10,000 fans.

The attack is alleged to have occurred at about 9.45 pm on Saturday in the courtyard area at Ebrington Square.

The victim was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where he received 15 stitches to his facial injuries

PSNI Constable McColgan, who is investigating the incident, said a male suspect being huntedt by police may have also been involved in another incident in the same area.

“The assailant is described as being about 5ft 8 inches tall, of a stocky build and had sandy hair,” he said.

“He is also alleged to have been involved in an incident involving a friend of the injured man a short time beforehand.”

Const McColgan appealed who could help identity the assailant ito contact police on the 101 non-emergency number, quoting reference 598 of August 17, 2015.
