Police crime scene picPOLICE in Derry are on the hunt for a thief who stole an expensive power saw in the Galliagh area of the city yesterday.

The £500 orange and cream coloured Stihl circular was stolen from the rear of a house in Slievemore Park around 2.00 pm.

Constable Moore, who is investigating the theft, said the saw had a new blade fitted and should bear the initials ‘MC’ on the bottom.

He added: “The workmen were alerted to the theft of the saw when a member of the public spoke to them about a man making off through Carnhill with the saw.”

“The suspect is described as being in his 20s, 5’11” tall wearing a black tracksuit and red baseball cap.”

Anyone with information about the theft can contact Constable Moore on the 101 non-emergency number.

Or alternatively they can pass information confidentially through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
