Aaron is seriously ill hospital fighting off the ravages of an aggressive virus

PRAYERS continue to be said for Derry GAA star Aaron Devlin who is fighting for his life in hospital after being struck down with an aggressive strain of meningitis.

The Ballinderry Shamrocks player took ill on Friday and was rushed to hospital.

In an update on his condition, his former club Jordanstown GAA posted on Facebook: “Aaron hasn’t deteriorated.”

However, the club added: “The next two to three hours are big for him.

“Along with great medical people and storming heaven with prayers, we have got him over these two days.

“Please pray hard now, light candles and send Angels to Aaron.”

Devlin’s brother, Coilin, has also played for Derry and a host of teams and players, but from inside and outside the county, tweeted their best wishes towards a speedy recovery for the footballer.

Clubs throughout the county, across Ireland and further afield in Australia have also posted messages on social media in support of Aaron and the Devlin family.
