Derry City manager Peter Hutton’s looking to bag three points at Drogheda tonight

DERRY City travel to Co Louth this evening looking for a win to boost their position in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

The Candystripes haven’t had much luck of late with a raft of suspensions and injuries to key players.

It means Peter Hutton’s team lie nineth in the league with just 14 points from 14 games – and only three wins under their belts.

But United Park in Drogheda has not been a happy hunting ground of late for Derry City and with a poor run of form, tonight’s game is no easy task for a team lacking in confidence and goals – just 11 in the league.

Said Peter Hutton: “It is an important game for us and it is one we are certainly looking forward to.”

Skipper Ryan McBride is suspended but Derry have been given a boost with the return of Mark Timlin.

Hutton admits that he is under pressure to get results and help Derry climb out of its league position.

“I put pressure on myself more than anyone.  We all want to be successful but I think this will be a fantastic learning experience for a lot of the young players.

“In football you have to have lows to enjoy your highs.

“Once we get everybody back and maybe add one or two fresh faces then we will certainly climb up the table,” added the manager.
