FIRE crews put out a blaze at a block of flats in Derry.
The fire broke out in the third floor flat at Bayview Terrace on Asylum Road at 10.30 pm on Friday.
There was no-one in the flat at the time but there were people in the adjoining flats.
Group Commander Barry McDowell said a working smoke alarm alerted residents in the building.
He said a neighbour raised the 999 alarm.
“It’s a great job that the smoke detection system operated because it alerted the occupants in the premises, so they were all able to get out safely.”
