AROUND 800 competitors have taken part in a 5k race/walk in memory of Caolan McCrossan.

Caolan was a student of St Columb’s College and would have been 14 on the day of the charity run.

He died at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast in February this year aged just 13 after a short illness.

Monies raised from the race is going to the Children Cancer CLIC Sargent. The race went along the Foyle Embankment taking in The Peace Brige and the Greenway along the Foyle river bank.

Included in the event was a children’s race, a fun walk and the main event.

The winner was Emmett Mc Ginty 17:10 with his sister Gemma 19:07 making it a Mc Ginty double.

The first pupil from St Columb’s College was Caolun Fegan .
