Donegal soccer star Seamus Coleman has donated £5,000 to the Mark Farren treatment fund.
The Greencastle native and former Derry City striker underwent surgery for a third time last month.
Farren has been battling a brain tumour for six years and plans to travel to an elite cancer treatment centre in Germany.
The treatment will cost approximately €30,000 and an online funding page was set-up on Friday as the League of Ireland community rallies behind the 32-year-old.
However, former LOI star Coleman who played over 100 times for Sligo Rovers has donated £5,000 towards the fund which now brings the total amount raised to over €23,000.
Since the news broke regarding Mark Farren’s illness the response from the footballing fraternity in Ireland has been incredible.
All donations can be made here and more information is available on www.markfarren.com
