DETECTIVES are investigating after two men were the victims of a vicious dissident republican attack.
The men were “badly beaten up” in the Galliagh area of Derry last night in what police are describing as a paramilitary-style attack.
Police say the victims were attacked with iron bars and baseball bats by a gang of six to eight men who broke into a flat in Ederowen Park.
Local police boss Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan said the men had been the victims of a “brutal and horrendous attack”.
The men were taken to Altnagelvin hospital but the injuries to their heads, arms and legs are not believed to be life threatening.
Anyone with information about those who carried out the brutal attack is asked to ring the police on the 101 number or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
