derrycitycouncilLocal community groups are being invited to sign up to attend a free event full of festive cheer and a mince pie…or three.

Groups can also grab some free copies of Derry City Council’s DiverseCity calendar 2015, whilst getting the opportunity to see around the new St. Columba Heritage Centre located in the grounds of the Longtower Church in the city.

Derry City Council’s Community Relations Team have organised this event to allow community groups to get a unique insight into the life of St. Columba and the city’s ancient monastic roots – as well as spread some festive cheer!

The event will take place on Monday next, 15th December, meeting in the St. Columba Heritage Centre located in the grounds of the Long Tower church at 11am followed by a one hour tour of the centre – finishing with a light lunch at 12:30pm.

The St. Columba Heritage Centre, in the newly restored listed school building known locally as the ‘Wee Nuns School’ has been fully equipped to provide the city with a centre to promote the heritage and the history of St. Columba, the city’s founding father.

If you would like to attend, registration for the event will remain open until Thursday 11th December 2014.

If you would like a booking form, contact Jenny McClelland at the Shared Future Centre, Irish St. Tel: 028 71365151 ext. 8225 or e-mail: [email protected]
