The completion of a purpose-built ramp to allow for wheelchair access to a row of houses at Dergview in Castlederg has been welcomed by Derg Sinn Féin Councillor Ruairí McHugh.
Cllr McHugh said: “Following this issue and others being brought to my attention by a number of residents who require wheel chair access to their homes in Dergview I have been working with residents, the Housing Executive and D.O.E. Roads Service for over a year to have this wheelchair access provision made.
“Some of the residents in this row have mobility difficulties yet up until now the only access to their homes was by way of two sets of cumbersome steps.
“Therefore the provision of this ramp will make a positive difference to the quality of life for these residents and I would like to commend both the Housing Executive and Roads Service for taking a joint approach on this issue and indeed continuing to work with myself on having other outstanding issues addressed’.”
