Fifty-five jobs have been saved as a result of the sale of Austin’s department store in Derry.
The company, one of the oldest independent stores in the world, had been placed into administrative receivership last Wednesday.
However, the receiver has now sold the trading side of the business and the store, located in a prominent position in the Diamond, will continue operating as normal.
The building is now for sale.
The business began in 1830 when Thomas Austin came to Derry opened as a drapery shop.
The Hasson family, from Derry, had owned the landmark store for over 35 years.
