telephone-2The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has issued a helpline number for tenants whose homes suffer damage as a result of the predicted severe weather.

The MET Office has warned that gales, and more locally severe gales, are expected from midnight tonight.

Whilst tonight will see wet and windy conditions sweeping eastwards, the strongest winds are expected to occur after the rain clears and winds veer northwesterly through

If you are a Housing Executive tenant and your home has been affected by severe weather conditions, you should telephone 03448 920 901.

A Housing Executive spokesperson said if a property is caused, they will arrange for a contractor to carry out emergency repairs to make the property secure, wind and weather proof.

The spokesperson added: “If the property is not habitable we will provide out-of-hours homeless advice telephone number or district office contact details.

“We will arrange for a grounds maintenance contractor to attend urgently to take remedial action to remove tree/address the problem.”
