The 30,000 people who attended last week’s hugely successful CultureTECH festival in Derry have been urged to vote for Connor Doherty (CultureTECH Head of Marketing and Partnerships) as the TalkTalk Digital Hero 2014.

Voting for the prestigious award closes this Thursday, 25 September.

Foyle SDLP MP Mark Durkan, who nominated Connor in the “Training” category for this year’s award, said he had done a “fantastic work”  in helping grow CultureTECH into the largest digital event in Northern Ireland.

Mr Durkan added: “He has also spearheaded the CultureTECH Community initiative which hopes to recruit 1000 digital champions to share their knowledge and help to get other people online.

Connor is in with the chance of winning £5,000 of funding if he wins his category.

There would be a further £5,000 if chosen by the judging panel as the overall winner and crowned TalkTalk Digital Hero 2014.

Mr Durkan added: “I am therefore urging everyone who attended (even online) last week’s hugely successful CultureTECH festival to vote for Connor athttp://digitalheroes.talktalk.co.uk/vote-train-army/

“This would be literally a ‘Vote of Thanks’ to the CultureTECH team.”

Mr Durkan concluded: “Indeed, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone from CultureTECH and all the volunteers who organised more than 200 great events – which opened young minds and blew older ones, including my own!”
