doirecolmcilleDoire Colmcilles’ senior team’s season got off to a disappointing start on Saturday when they were comprehensively defeated by Drum at Gortnahey.

There were good performances from Derry minor Dean Curran while the returning Mark Chambers and James McQuillan also impressed.

Colmcille’s next game is against Magherafelt this weekend.

Manager Brian Duffy will be hoping to build on the improvements witnessed towards the end of last season, particularly in light of the fact that a number of key players were missing for last weekend’s game through injury and work commitments.

Training times for the seniors and minors have been changed for the next few months. Both squads will train at St Columb’s college on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (7.00pm).

All players on other underage squads should check with relevant coaches regarding training times over the Easter holidays.

Colmcille seniors start their league campaign this Saturday with a game against Drum.

A number of Doire Colmcille kit bags are available for purchase at £20 each. Further details from club chairman, Mark Higgins.

Training times and venues for all Doire Colmcille club teams for the coming months are as follows:

Nursery (4 years – 6 years), St Cecilia’s, Thursdays, 6.15pm to 7.00pm; under-8 to 12 years, St Cecilia’s, Thursdays, 7.00pm to 8.00pm and St Columb’s college indoor, Saturdays, 11-30am to 12.30pm.

Under-14, St Columb’s college 3G pitch, Saturdays, 11am to 12.30pm.

Under-16s, St Columb’s college 3G pitch, Saturdays, 11am to 12.30pm and Brooke Park indoor, Tuesdays, 8.00pm to 9.00pm.

Under-18s, Tuesdays and Thursdays, St Columb’s College (7.00pm).

Seniors, Tuesdays and Thursdays, St Columb’s College (7.00pm).

The club is open to anyone wishing to become involved in Gaelic games in any capacity.

Anyone interested in joining the club should contact Doire Colmcille club secretary, Paul Crocker at [email protected] or by phone at 07732713968.
