Cllr Bridget Meehan.

The announcement that the Post Office at Trench Road in the Waterside area of Derry is to be revamped has been welcomed by local Sinn Féin Councillor  Bridget Meehan.

The refurbishment, part of a three-year investment and support programme for the entire Post Office network, is to take place next month and will see the office close for a week.

Cllr Meehan said while the work would bring “short-term inconvenience,” the branch would be upgraded to a “more modern environment” with longer working hours.

Cllr Meehan added: “Customers should be aware that work will take place during May and the post office will have to close on Thursday, 8 May at 5.30pm until Thursday, 15 May when the refurbishments will be completed.”

Cllr Meehan concluded; “The Post Office provides a range of useful and convenient services to the local community and I wish the staff well with their new upgraded branch.
