GOLF…. DOHERTY AND MCDERMOTT WIN HORACE BAYER AND RED BARN TROPHIES AT CITY OF DERRY

cityofderrygolfclubMartin Doherty and Tom McDermott were the winners of the Horace Bayer Cup and Red Barn Open competitions respectively played at City of Derry Golf Club at the weekend.

Red Barn Open

Tom survived horrendous weather conditions at Prehen yesterday to take the Red Barn Open with 37 points ahead Mary O’Doherty on 28 points, winner of the ladies :rize.

Result:

1:  Tom Mc Dermott (23) 37pts

2: Ronan Coyle (10) 36pts

3: Brian Burns (15) 34pts

Ladies: Mary O Doherty (33) 28pts

Horace Bayer Cup

The very popular and hard working competitions member Martin Doherty had a shot to spare on the in form Stephen McKeegan with Ian Dixon taking third spot in the Horace Bayer Cup on Saturday.

Once again, the gross prize winner was the excellent Ernie Heywood.

Result:

1: Martin Doherty (19) 42pts

2: Stephen Mc Keegan (4) 41pts

3: Ian Dixon (18) 41pts

Gross: Ernie Heywood (1) 37pts

1st nine: Bert Whoriskey (16) 23pts

2nd nine: Mark Sheridan (18) 21pts

Ulster Fourball

The Ulster Fourball team, under the captaincy of Shane Kelly, take a three-two lead to Killymoon Golf Club on the 27 April next.
