The perpetrator of yesterday’s serious sexual assault on a teenage girl in Derry city centre is “depraved” and “must be brought to justice,” SDLP Cllr Angela Dobbins has said.
Police are investigating the incident which occurred in the Magazine Street area in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Extending her sympathises to the young victim of what she described “this awful attack,” Cllr Dobbins said there was nothing more abusive than a sexual attack on a vulnerable teenager.
She added: “The individual behind this cruel, devastating attack is absolutely depraved and poses a serious risk to others.
“As citizens of this city, we all have a duty of care toward one another and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area last night to report it to the police as a matter of urgency.”
