A £4.5 million multi-storey car park is to be built at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.

The Western Health and Social Services Trust has submitted a planning application to build the development which will be part of the new £73 million North Wing project which will deliver six new inpatient wards and a new main entrance to the hospital.

Work on the car park – to be built on the current outpatient car park area at the hospital – will begin this summer and is due to be completed by spring next year.

The Trust is currently constructing interim car park areas to ensure there is no loss of car park spaces at the hospital during construction periods.
