The event, which will leave the Waterfoot Hotel in the Waterside at 11.00 on Saturday 22 February, is being held as part of the Mayor’s charity appeal with all proceeds raised going to Macmillan Cancer Support, his chosen charity.

This year, walkers will go over Foyle Bridge, along Queens’s Quay, pass over the Peace Bridge, through Ebrington and cross Craigavon Bridge, before finishing at the Tourist Information Office in Foyle Street.

Mayor Reilly encouraged people to join in the annual event. Last year 200 people took part in the walk to raise £3,000 for Foyle Search and Rescue, the chosen charity of Cllr Kevin Campbell during his time as Mayor.

Cllr Reilly said: “This year, I would like to encourage more people to participate in the event, not only to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support here in the Foyle area but also to increase awareness of the invaluable work they carry out in providing support to families affected by Cancer, a cause I myself have been personally affected with.”

To take part, all that is required is £5 to register.
