A man, believed to be making his way home from a New Year party, was robbed in the early hours of this morning in Maghera.
The incident occurred when the was approached and threatened by a man who demanded money from him as he walked along Lower Main Street at around 4.00am.
The victim ran off but was chased and caught by the man in Lower Main Street.
The culprit fled after being given a sum of money.
The victim was not injured but was believed to have been badly shaken by the ordeal.
The offender is described as being approximately 5’10″/5’11” tall, wearing a navy or black hooded top and had a dark scarf covering his face.
Detectives have asked anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Magherafelt on 0845 600 8000.
