NORTHERN Ireland man, Sacha Dolan, who won £76,908 on Lotto in May this year, helped to spread a little Christmas cheer when he visited a charity in his local area, Strabane District Caring Services.

The big hearted winner joined around 50 senior citizens at the charity’s annual Christmas dinner where he presented hampers filled with gifts, including games and food supplies, which will benefit the many local people who use the charity’s services every year.

Sacha Dolan said: “It was just wonderful to see everyone’s faces light up when they saw the hampers.

“And a big thank you to Strabane District Caring Services for allowing me to visit with them and experience the magical atmosphere they created for local residents.

“I’d like to wish all those who work for the charity, and everyone in Northern Ireland, a lucky and prosperous Christmas.”

Strabane District Caring Services received £50,000 of National Lottery funding through the Big Lottery Fund in 2013.

The charity provides social, recreational and educational services for marginalised groups in Strabane and the surrounding area.

They offer a range of activities and services including meals on wheels; lunch club; support for older people on their return home from hospital and training and employment for the long term unemployed.

Sacha Claus #1BGerard Harkin from Strabane District Caring Services said: “A big thank you to Sacha for his kind thoughts and generosity.

“The gifts will provide many hours of good cheer not only at this Christmas time but throughout the year.

“We’d also like to say thanks once again to the Big Lottery Fund for supporting us and allowing us the opportunity to make a difference to so many people’s lives.”

Each week National Lottery players raise over £35 million for National Lottery projects across the UK. To date more than 420,000 grants have been awarded – an average of 135 grants for every postcode district.
