UPDATE: BUSINESSES SHUT AND HUNDREDS EVACUATED AFTER SUSPECT DEVICE FOUND ON BUS

A number of businesses have been forced to close and hundreds of staff evacuated as a result of a security alert in the Northland Road area of Derry.busbomb

Police are currently in attendance at the scene where a suspicious device has been left on a bus.

Bomb disposal experts have been tasked to the scene.

The Translink bus is parked at a “bus stop” adjacent to a business park.

Several hundred staff at the nearby First Source call centre have been evacuated.

A number of businesses in a retail park have also been forced to shut including a pharmacy offering a late night service.

A convenience store and a fast food takeaway have also been evacuated.

A number of residents have been moved out of their homes in the Springvale Park area.

The Northland Road has been has been closed between Branch Roundabout and Springtown Road and police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
