North West Community Network in association with the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (NIHRC) is to deliver training and information sessions in the North West.
This year the Commissioner for Children and Young People (NICCY) will join the NIHRC in the delivery of these sessions, the first of which take place tomorrow.
The sessions have been planned in partnership with NWCN and are open to all.
The sessions will take place at the Waterside Theatre, Glendermott Road in Derry and will be held tomorrow, 12 November and on Thursday, 29 November. Both sessions will start at 10.ooam and end at 12.30pm.
Tomorrow’s sessions is entitled “Introduction to Rights” and will provide an insight into what rights are, the international, region and local legal frameworks and their relevance to your own work.
“Applied Rights – Skills Practice” is the title of the 28 November session.
Using real life case scenarios, develop and practice the skills required to identify the rights engaged in issues raised by clients and apply a rights based approach to pursuing resolution of client concerns. This session will be followed immediately with an opportunity for an individual confidential discussion with the NIHRC and/or NICCY.
