An arson attack on a garden shed in the Ballymagroarty area of Derry has been described as “reckless” by local councillor.
Sinn Fein Cllr Eric McGinley said it was a “matter of serious concern” that someone would wilfully set alight a garden shed which was in close proximity to homes and oil tanks.
H said it was only through good fortune that serious injury and extensive damage to other properties did not occur.
He added: “It is difficult to work out the mentality of those involved in this reckless act and it would be of benefit to the local community to know that those responsible can be held to account for their stupidity.”
Cllr McGinley concluded: “I would ask people in the area to do whatever they can to ensure that this type of criminal behaviour is brought to an end.”
