The tournament will feature 12 fights in the Great Hall with local fighters Connor Coyle and Mark Mclaughlin, as well as Eglinton ABC’s Mickey Devine, representing the Derry ABC team that will include current and former All-Ireland champions.

Kevin Duffy, secretary of the Derry County Board, said  such is the strength of amateur boxing in the county, it was important to attract quality opposition.

He said: “We have a strong selection of boxers and rather than matching them with local opposition, we had to opt for an International team to match that strength.”

He added: “I think the event will prove to be a fabulous occasion in the refurbished Guildhall, a magnificent building which has seen so many great boxing events down through the years.”

Tickets, priced at £10, are available at the door or through any of the boxing clubs in the county.
