JOE BROLLY STILL BLOWING KISSES TO FANS 20 YEARS ON

NYPD-3-1024x682DERRY LEGEND Joe Brolly oozed class – and humour – during a charity football match in Donegal last night.

There was a huge turnout in Mac Cumhaill Park in Ballybofey for the match between Donegal legends and NYPD.

The crowd got value for money as they were entertained initially by an over 35’s match between Mac Cumhaills and Glenfin.

Boots were dusted off and legs were stretched for this entertaining match.

In what could be described as a sedate pace, the two teams played their hearts out much to the delight of the crowd. Mac Cumhaills just shaded the final score.

It was then on to the main event. The two teams were lead out by the Donegal Town Community Band, who have just won their second All Ireland in a row.

Martin Mc Hugh managed the Donegal Legends and Jim Mc Guinness managed the NYPD. There were stars from all over the country, including Joe Brolly, Paddy Bradley, Nudie Hughes, Rory Gallagher, Bernard Flynn, Eamonn O Hara and Kevin Cassidy to name a few.

It was a fast paced game with plenty of scores, with Michael Murphy finding the net a couple of times for the NYPD.

Undoubted star of the night was Joe Brolly, who played up to the crowd. There’s No Show Like A Joe Show.

His first goal of the game was followed by Joe blowing kisses to the cheering crowd.

Every tackle, shot or run he made was accompanied by loud cheers from the crowd at the game.

It was like 1993 all over again!

The game ended on a cliff hanger, with the legends awarded a penalty in the last minute of the game.

They were two down but the ball was blazed over the bar. The NYPD had a quick kick out and after a surging run, found the back of the net.

The full time score was NYPD 7-15 Donegal Legends 6-14.

The players all stayed on the pitch afterwards for photos with the fans.

All the players retired to Jacksons Hotel for a meal and presentations.

This was a brilliant night’s entertainment and all for a great cause, The Friends of Letterkenny. Well done to everybody involved.
