The draw was made by Irish elite performance director, Jim Magilton and Ian Duncan, sales manager, Charles Hurst Vauxhall, Belfast which took place at Charles Hurst Vauxhall on Belfast’s Boucher Road.

The competition has been seeded so the bigger football schools avoid each other with a Plate competition being held for all teams eliminated in the first round.

First round ties involving Derry teams are:

St Columbs College v Newtownhamilton

Monkstown v Foyle College

Wellington College v St Joseph’s Boys School

St Brigid’s High School  v St Brigid’s (Armagh)

Ties to be played before 9 October next with the final to be played at the Ballymena Showgrounds on 30 April next year.

“All hope for the season is not lost if you lose the 1st round tie, as you then go into the Plate competition.  It’s important we provide as many opportunities as possible to represent your school on the football field with all competitions culminating in a showpiece Finals Day at Ballymena Showgrounds on 30 April 2014.”

Cheryl Stibbs, Vauxhall’s Sponsorship Marketing Manager, added: “We are delighted to be putting our support behind the Vauxhall Schools Cup again this year.  Supporting grassroots football is vital for the game in Northern Ireland and we hope that some of the children taking part in the competition this year will go on the represent their country in years to come.”
