THE PSNI in Derry are warning the public about the dangers of using illegal fireworks this Hallowe’en.

And they are also promising a crackdown on those selling fireworks on the black mark in the city after seizing illegal rockets and bangers recently

On its Facebook page, PSNI Foyle say : “Our City is world famous for Halloween Celebrations🎃 which our citizens and partners should be rightly proud of.

“Unfortunately with this time of year comes an increase in misuse of illegal fireworks.

“Apart from the real dangers to the people using them and people in the immediate area they can cause fear in our community particularly among the vulnerable as well as animals.

“Already police in the District have seized fireworks. 👮🏻‍♀️

“We will be continuing to take action against those involved in the illegal sale, distribution and use of illegal fireworks.

“Our first plea is to those who may not see the harmful impact on setting of illegal fireworks to stop and think and not do it.

“As a community we can deal with this so help us deal with those profiteering from misery inflicted on our community by providing the information on those supplying illegal fireworks.

“You can even do this anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 or via 101 or through Private Messaging on Facebook.” #thinkofothers #communityfirst
