SINN Féin MLA Raymond McCartney has reiterated his call for disclosure of relevant information from the British Government into deaths resulting from the conflict.
Speaking in response to a full-page advertisement in today’s Irish News, Mr McCartney said: “Sinn Féin fully supports the families of victims in their search for truth and justice and will continue to do so.
“In every engagement with the British Government Sinn Féin have worked hard to find a way forward in which we can address these issues to the best of our ability.
“During the recent negotiations the British Government introduced the pretext of ‘National Security’ as a way of blocking disclosure of relevant information to the families.
“The agreement worked out at Stormont House needs to be honoured with maximum disclosure from the British Government.
“Sinn Féin have brought forward two proposals that would allow maximum disclosure based on three basic principles including the right to life.
“We will not be found wanting in continuing to develop a process that will allow everyone to have the required level of disclosure on the past and will continue to work with the families and victims groups to see this delivered.”
