SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that the Department for Infrastructure has commenced work in Ballymagroarty to remove moss from a number of public paths.
Councillor Cooper said: “I welcome the start of this work to remove moss from a number of public paths in the Ballymagroarty area.
“The moss on the pathways was presenting dangers to local residents and pedestrians with the constant fear of falling on such a slippy surface.
“It’s good this work is happening before the onset of the dark winter months.
“We have been lobbying for a number of months for the work to take place and will work to ensure there is no repeat of the same situation in future.
“I would like to thank the Council and Road Service for their collaboration on this issue and i will continue to lobby the Housing Executive for similar work to take place in upper Ballymagroarty.”
