THE Alley Theatre in Strabane is offering you a chance to be creative thanks to an extensive arts workshop programme for adults and children that includes everything from music, drawing, painting, glazing, floristry, arts, crafts, writing and Halloween fun.
Highly acclaimed group, Connla and Conor Mallon are offering free music workshops on 20 October from 4pm – 5pm while those interested in art and drawing are encouraged to take part in the Portraiture workshop which is ideal for developing your skills through drawing and painting.
The workshop, under the supervision of artist Sheila Byrne, will encourage participants to look at the diverse style of well-known artists and develop their own individual approach.
This workshop will take place over four Saturday’s starting on 3rd November and is suitable for 16 years and above and will cost £45.
For those who want to stand out from their neighbours this Christmas they can with their own handmade Christmas Door Wreath.
This one-day workshop led by florist/hatinator and fascinator designer Nicola Bamford from A Stone Rose, will take place on 17th November and will teach different techniques to make wreaths using fresh foliage, beautiful pinecones and fairy lights.
The workshop is priced at £15.
A series of workshops for children are also included in the programme including Pottery decoration techniques and a chance to produce their very own hand glazed design on a tile.
Taking place on 20 October this workshop is for children over the age of 8 and costs £7.
In the run up to Halloween, the Alley is also hosting a Halloween Costume making workshop where children are encouraged to take their old costume along to get a makeover.
Taking place on 27th October, this workshop is priced at £3 and is a great way of learning new ideas to rejuvenate your costume.
Also on 27th October, a workshop entitled: – the ‘Return of the Ancients’ – will let children create their own witches or wizards hat and is also £3.
We can’t have Halloween without a horror writing workshop -full of suspense, creepy animation, dolls and clowns!
This workshop is not for the faint hearted and aimed at over 9 year olds who will learn handy tips and tricks to improve their writing from Michelle Garvey from Ink Wing Academy.
