A SINN Fein councillor is urging parents to speak to their children about the dangers of either starting or being near fires.
Councillor Caoimhe McKnight made the call after a small fire was lit in the grass area between Galliagh Park and Fergleen Park last night.
She wrote on her Fadebook page: “As you can see there are a few young people hanging around.
“Whether they started the fire or not by being there, they are involved!
“Now is the time to talk to ur kids about the dangers of fires especially when they are so close to people’s homes!
“They just want to live in peace and really don’t want a fire literally on their door step,” she added.
