ANOTHER organised crime gang in Derry has been hit in the pocket.
The PSNI in Derry say officers Foyleside & the Moor NPT have seized over 200 counterfeit DVDs yesterday morning during a joint operation with HM Revenue and Customs.
A Foyle police spokesperson said: “Many people believe buying counterfeit goods is harmless.
“However, it is not a victimless crime.
“Counterfeit goods and pirated content not only affect the economy but the losses they cause have a negative impact on thousands of people employed in these industries, contributing to rental and retail store closures and loss of jobs.”
It was a busy day for police and customs in Derry.
In another part of the city, Waterside cops and HMRC seized a large quantity of illegal cigarettes, hitting another criminal where it hurts.
