DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses following the report of an aggravated burglary in Co Derry.
The incident happened at the High Road area of Portstewart on Monday night, 10 December.
Detective Sergeant Molloy said: “We received a report around 9.40pm from the occupants of a property who had located an intruder and detained him.
“Officers responded and arrested a 22 year old man on suspicion of aggravated burglary. A number of items were recovered at the scene.
“He was subsequently charged with aggravated burglary and possession of a Class B controlled drug.
“The man is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 7.
As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
“Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around 9.30pm on Monday evening should contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1319 of 10/12/18.”
