FANS of legendary Newry rock act The 4 of Us will have the opportunity to share an evening with the band’s brothers Brendan and Declan Murphy in the intimate surroundings of the Alley Theatre on Saturday September 1st.
Of the four founding members, only the Murphy brothers remain while other positions in the band have varied since they first burst onto the scene in the late 80s.
They achieved huge critical acclaim following the release of their debut album, Songs for the Tempted, in 1989 with the single ‘Mary’ becoming one of the most played songs on Irish radio that year.
The album went double platinum in Ireland and won Best Album of the Year at the Irish Music Awards, even defeating the internationally renowned U2 to the title.
The band continued to release a selection of quality albums all of which reached the Top 20 in Ireland.
This two hour intimate performance will be an opportunity to hear their songs from their extensive catalogue of work, along with new material including tracks from Brendan’s solo album, ‘Walk With Me’, and the band’s latest album ‘Sugar Island’.
All of which will be performed in an acoustic setting as they were originally written which promises to wow fans old and new.
Tickets are £14, £12 (con) available from the Alley Theatre Box Office on 028 71 384444 or online www.alley-theatre.
