THE Western Trust is asking the public not to bring their germs into Altnagelvin Hospital at this time of year.
The Trust says in a statement: “We would urge you not to visit friends or relatives in our hospitals if you or someone within your household is unwell with the winter vomiting bug or have flu-like symptoms.
“Visitors have an important role to play in preventing the spread of infections and we would ask you to ensure the following when visiting our hospitals:
1. Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after your visit.
2. Only visit one person – do not go from ward to ward
3. Minimise the number of visitors per patient
4. Do not sit on the hospital beds during your visit.
5. Follow any additional advice or instructions given by ward staff.
