The Partnership is responsible for delivering LEADER funding throughout the Derry City and Strabane District Council area under the 2014 – 2020 NI Rural Development Programme.
The Partnership has a LAG Board made up of 13 social partners and 11 elected members, with nominations for the social partner places on the board coming from its ‘Wider LAG’ which currently totals approximately 170 members.
Membership of the Wider LAG is open to anyone aged 18+ who works or lives in the rural Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
The Partnership would particularly welcome applications for membership from women as well as minority ethnic communities, 16-25 year olds and people with a disability.
The LAG Board currently has a vacancy for a social partner with a community/voluntary sector background.
In the first instance, the Board is required to attempt to fill the vacancy with a female member in line with a Gender Action Plan to address the current lack of female representation on the board.
A nomination process to fill the social partner vacancy will follow after the deadline for membership of the wider LAG has closed.
The Chair of Derry and Strabane Rural Partnership, Cllr Patricia Logue (pictured above) said: “This is a great opportunity to get involved in your rural area and in the Rural Development Programme”.
“The Partnership would welcome new membership applications to the Wider LAG – in particular from women as well as minority ethnic communities, young people and people with a disability as we are under-represented in these groups. Being on the Wider LAG opens up an opportunity to stand for LAG Board elections.
“Anyone interested in a nomination to fill the current social partner vacancy on the LAG Board, must first complete a membership form for the Wider LAG if not already a member” she said.
The deadline for completion of a membership registration form is Friday 27th October 2017 at 12 noon.
Anyone interested can download a form and information pack from www.derrystrabane.com/rural or request by email to [email protected] or phone Derry City and Strabane District Council on 02871 253253 x 6917.
The NI Rural Development Programme is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) and the European Union.
