EVERY picture tells its own own story.
And in the case of Bishop of Derry Most Rev Donal McKeown, it was a momentous occasion while on a trip to Rome.
His face told the whole story: he was absolutely overjoyed to meet Pope Francis.
On his Facebook page, Bishop McKeown simply says of the photo: “At audience during a conference in Rome, December 1st, 2016.”
Many on his Facebook page have posted their delight at the photo – and the long way he has come to be Bishop of Derry.
Ann Horton wrote: “I never dreamt that the nice young man who carried my (heavy!!) case for me when we arrived at the course for foreign language assistants back in 1970 would one day be the Bishop of Derry and meet the Pope! :-)”
Bishop McKeown replied: “Who says that God doesn’t have a sense of humour! Hope you are all well, Ann. D”
The next time they could possibly meet is when Pope Francis comes on an historic trip to Ireland in 2018.
