DERRY retailers are pulling out all the stops to get shoppers to open their purses and wallets for today’s “Black Friday”.
The one day only sale is traditionally associated with online retailers, but local stores are getting in on the act to tempt shoppers away from their computer screens and into the shops.
The big high street names are also slashing prices in an effort to entice shoppers in and spend their hard earned cash.
Foyleside Shopping Centre is open from 8.00am to 10.00pm tomorrow to cope with demand.
And while shops will be hoping for the tills to be ringing all day, it is expected online sales could reach fever pitch over the weekend too.
Stores are offering huge discounts in the hope of boasting November’s takings in case December flatlines.
As shoppers flock for a bargain, it is also a time for thieves to strike.
So keep an eye on your purses and wallets and keep credit and debit cards safe at all times.
Also, stay safe online when trying to get a bargain.
Only use reputable websites for buying goods.
And the old adage still holds for ‘Black Friday’ – if it is too good to be true, it is probably too good to be true.
